ACHP PRIVACY POLICY, TERMS, & DISCLAIMER

The Association of Certified Handyman Professionals values the privacy of its members, chapters, and visitors to its Web sites and is strongly committed to each visitor’s right to privacy. This privacy policy has been developed as a codification of the ACHP’s commitment in this area.

Trademarks
The content, trademarks, logos, seals, and service marks displayed on this Website are owned by Association of Certified Handyman Professionals Inc  (collectively, the “Trademarks“, which also constitute Content).   All Trademarks not owned by Association of Certified Handyman Professionals Inc are the property of their respective owners, and are used with permission. Nothing contained on this Website may be construed as granting, by implication, estoppel, or otherwise, any right or license to use any Trademark.

Consent
By using the ACHP’s Web sites, you signify your acceptance of our privacy policy. If you, as a visitor, choose to log on as a member, register for courses or events, purchase products, apply for membership or certification, or otherwise submit personally identifiable information, you are consenting to the ACHP’s use of such data in accordance with its privacy policy.

Scope
It is the intent of ACHP to be in compliance with recognized principles regarding privacy of data.

This policy guides how ACHP stores and uses personal information that is collected by ACHP or provided to ACHP, whether through our Web sites or by other methods such as an application, enrollment, registration or order form, or other means. This policy covers all of ACHP’s Web sites. However, this policy does not cover chapter Web sites whether or not linked to the ACHP’s sites.

Membership Identity Number and Password
All individual ACHP members are entered into the membership database and are assigned a unique membership ID number and password. Membership number and password are delivered to members together with basic information about membership benefits and services directly from ACHP.

Collection and Use of Information
Even if you do nothing during your visit other than navigate an ACHP Web site, read pages, or download information, we will automatically gather and store certain information about your visit. In order to ensure our Web sites are as useful and effective an information source as they can be, we analyze information that identifies visitors by categories such as the location of visitors by domain, and browser types. We also measure, in the aggregate, indicators such as number of visits, average time spent on the sites, and pages viewed. ACHP uses these statistics to improve site content and usability; this information does not identify visitors personally.

However, when a visitor enters membership information for the purpose of logging in to restricted pages, a “temporary cookie” is deployed. This cookie – a small text file stored temporarily on the visitor’s browser – enables the Web site to “remember” this authentication information during movement from one page to another. This makes it unnecessary to log in again on each page.

With the exception of specific secured pages, visitors are not required to be ACHP members in order to gain access to ACHP’s Web sites, although nonmembers may be required to register to receive all benefits available to users of the sites.  Non-members have access to a directory for the purpose of finding an ACHP member.

The ACHP may use personally identifiable information you have voluntarily provided on our Web sites or by other means to notify you via e-mail or printed material of ACHP events or other relevant products and services offered by ACHP. ACHP may produce a directory of members for networking purposes. If you do not want to receive notice of such events or be included in directories, you may choose to opt out by the means detailed in the “Opting Out” section of this policy.

Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
If you voluntarily provide ACHP with personally identifiable information, ACHP may release that information on a selective basis to outside organizations whose products and services are of perceived benefit. These organizations include, but are not limited to:
Various companies that authenticate credit cards on behalf of ACHP if you provide a credit card for the purchase of products or services.

ACHP chapters, which may solicit you for local participation or membership. In the case of ACHP members, ACHP chapter may publish your name in a directory or use your data to mail or e-mail local materials, unless you contact the chapter and opt out of such disclosure.

ACHP may provide mailing information to other organizations whose products and services are of perceived benefit. If you do not want the ACHP to provide your personally identifiable information to third parties other than ACHP chapters or as noted above, please see “Opting Out” section of this policy.

There are other instances in which ACHP may divulge your personal information. The ACHP may provide your personal information if necessary, in ACHP’s good faith judgment, to comply with laws or regulations of a governmental or regulatory body or in response to a valid subpoena, warrant or order or to protect the rights of the ACHP or others.

Right of Access
ACHP is dedicated to providing reasonable access to members and others who want to review their own personal information maintained by ACHP and correct any inaccuracies therein. Members may view and update their data by accessing their member profile, available upon logging in to www.handymanassociation.org. ACHP is not responsible for verifying the continued accuracy of either member or nonmember information.

Security
Although ACHP does not monitor the Web site, ACHP has reasonable policies in place to protect from misuse the personally identifiable information provided by its users.
This web site takes every precaution to protect our users’ and member information. When users submit sensitive information via our web site.

Links
ACHP Web sites may contain “links” to other sites, including sites operated by ACHP chapters. The ACHP does not control, and is not responsible for, the accuracy, timeliness, security, or even the continued availability or existence of this outside information. Opinions expressed on other sites linked from the ACHP Web sites are not necessarily those of ACHP, nor does the ACHP endorse, warrant, or guarantee products or services described or offered on those other sites. Neither is the ACHP responsible for the contents of any Web sites that choose to link to the ACHP’s Web sites with or without the ACHP’s consent.

Other organizations linked to the ACHP’s Web sites may collect information about you when you view or click on these sites. The ACHP cannot control this collection of information. You should contact these organizations directly if you have any questions about their use of the information they collect.

Changes to Privacy Policy
The ACHP reserves the right to modify or amend this privacy policy at any time and for any reason. Nothing contained herein is intended to create a contract or agreement between the ACHP and any other party. The users of the ACHP’s Web sites should reference this policy periodically to ensure that they have knowledge of the current provisions of the ACHP’s privacy policy.

Opting In and Opting out of the Release of Personal Information
Members are entered into the membership database and given the choice to opt-out of receiving communications from ACHP or their chapter. To opt out, please send an e-mail to optout@handymanassociation.org.

If you choose to provide the ACHP with personally identifiable information by purchasing a product, registering for an event, or requesting other services, the ACHP may use that information to provide you with the purchased products or services, for billing purposes, to send immediately relevant information to you, and for other purposes related to the reason you provided the information even if you opt out of the use of your information by the means detailed in this privacy policy.

Privacy-Related Inquiries and Complaints
The ACHP takes its users’ privacy concerns seriously. If you believe the ACHP has not complied with this online privacy policy with respect to your personal information or you have other related inquiries or concerns, you may e-mail ACHP at service@handymanassociation.org.

In your e-mail, please describe in as much detail as possible the nature of your inquiry or the ways in which you believe that the ACHP online privacy policy has not been complied with. Please note if you provide the ACHP with inconsistent privacy preferences (for example, by indicating on one occasion that third parties may contact you with marketing offers and indicating on another occasion that they may not), the ACHP cannot guarantee your most recent privacy preference will be honored.

Also, please note the ACHP is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of non-ACHP Web sites to which this site or any other ACHP Web site may link to. You should review the privacy policy of such sites before using the sites.

Concerning ACHP examination for certification.
The ACHP evaluation exam(s) and/or recommendations are intended to verify only a few of many basic skills needed to perform handyman work. These questions are for basic and general guidance only and should not be relied upon for legal compliance purposes. They are based solely on the experiences of handyman professionals and from information provided to us and relate only to those conditions specifically discussed. We do not make any warranty, expressed or implied that it complies with any or all laws, regulations or standards. Our entrance exam is intended for the serious handyman, a requirement for those seeking membership with ACHP but in no way sanctioned by any state, city, county or municipality.
